Musicians Who Have Died From Heroin Cont'd

G.G. Allin (August 29, 1956 – June 28, 1993)

One of the most notorious punk musicians the world has ever known, Allin was a truly unique individual. His shows were always a spectacle, and usually were shut down either by the police or by the venue itself. He had often threatened to commit suicide onstage, but never actually followed through with it, as he died of an overdose at a friend's apartment.

Hillel Slovak (April 13, 1962 – June 25, 1988)

Slovak was one of the original founding members of The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Around the time of their third album's release (The Uplift Mofo Party Plan), singer Anthony Kiedis and Slovak both developed drug addictions, but the latter's drug use was becoming more and more problematic. Shortly after the Uplift Mofo tour ended, he was found dead of an overdose at the young age of 26.

Dee Dee Ramone (September 18, 1952 - June 5, 2002)

Born Douglas Colvin, he was the original bassist for The Ramones, and wrote lyrics for many of their songs. He embarked on a solo career in 1989, but continued to work occasionally with his former bandmates. He was found dead in his Hollywood apartment by his wife, and the official autopsy report listed "heroin intoxication" as the cause of death.
